I always wanted a huge collection of guitars to play with - I have a few now but there is always that next new guitar waiting somewhere for me. I only wish I had all the guitars I've sold or traded over the years! I know most of them were junk but it would sure be nice to still have them.

I play guitar and drums. I own a bass guitar, but I'm not much more than a guitarist playing bass. Drums aren't much more either, but I do enjoy playing them and plan to continue practicing and growing. I've played quitar for around 22 years, and I own a wonderful collection of instruments. An old friend reminded me that back when I was about 17 I told him that one day I would have a nice collection... I don't see an end to it either; I will continue to collect more guitars!

Current distortion pedal setup.

The guitar rig is a never-ending project; I used to use those crappy digital all-in-one effects processors and realized, they all suck. It has to do with putting all the effects in a line and just pushing it through the front of an amp. Bad... some people like Line 6 who make some incredible products. I love the Guitar Port/UX series. The computer based processor is killer, I theorize being able to use it with a PA live. I may one day try that out... However I have an amazing rig right now. The Bogner Uberschall is dreamy and in conjunction with my choice of pedals, deeply satisfying.

I bought the Voodoo Lab Pedal Switcher and ran it through the effects loop on the amp. I was amazed at how smooth the switching on the VL is, No more audible click, it's quite clean. The device is fairly expensive but it allows you to isolate the noisy, and lacking in bypass pedals. My ChoralFlange from Fulltone is just like that, it doesn't have a true bypass. So putting it on its own loop gave me the ability to keep if from affecting the tone when I didn't want it.

Voodoo Lab Pedalboard Control

This is the most complicated setup I've had to date. I think it's a great home/studio toy, but I can't imagine myself dragging all that out to play. I'll most likely get a small pedal board for just the tuner, OCD, and wah.

The hardest part so far has been the cabling. I originally bought a bunch of cheap little 6" cables, and then a few 1 footers. The problem is they need to be all 'L' connectors. Then, if they can touch each other, they need to have a sheath to keep them from conducting! So I ended up with a huge mess of cables, and it frustrates me.

I'm going to buy a bulk of the George L connectors, and a spool of wire and just custom cut the cables to fit my layout.

George L's

I currently use an SKB PS-45 Professional Powered Pedalboard ( Link ) I plan to build a larger version sometime soon, but time is always short.

Future plans include a possible Genz Benz acoustic guitar amp, and a cutaway nylon acoustic. Maybe even a Godin and a Roland V-Guitar setup. I always have wanted one of those. NAMM is around the corner as well, so I'm holding off to see what new comes from it. I'm hoping for a new Bogner, and maybe some other high-end tube amps. I will also be on the lookout for some new pedals. I may even order a custom ESP or buy some other high-end custom made electric.
